E-invoicing at the turn of 2026: a brief stock-take

Publié 23 December 2025

Over the last twelve months the structured e-invoice moved from a niche integration to a default expectation in B2B tooling — and the receiving side turns out to be where most of the technical surprises live.

Formats settled, edge cases did not

ZUGFeRD/Factur-X for the hybrid PDF and XRechnung for the pure-structured case are now the boring, dependable default — and that is a good thing. The friction has moved into the details of the data model: exemption reasons, intra-EU supplies, credit notes and correction documents, and the ever-popular early-payment discount.

What we are watching in 2026

Peppol keeps growing as the exchange network, and interoperability testing against EN 16931 keeps tightening. The practical, technical takeaway is unchanged: treat the embedded structured XML — not the human-readable PDF page — as the source of truth, and validate every document before it leaves your system.

That is the whole premise eunormia is built on. Here’s to a robust 2026.
